When it was announced that rugby was returning after lockdown, I made the decision that I wanted to continue to play at as high a standard as I can for as long as possible. Although I have already sustained some serious injuries during my playing career, I knew that coming out of lockdown my risk of injury would have increased and my strength and fitness had suffered, so I reached out to my old teammate Harry to help me prepare for returning to rugby.

The support I have had from Harry has surpassed all expectations. His knowledge and approach to training is brilliant. The training programme is tailored to fit around any old injuries and specifically designed for my position and enhances my qualities as a player. Harry keeps me accountable, focused, and motivated to train. My strength, speed, power, and fitness have never been so high, and I’ve seen these improvements transfer immediately into my performance on the pitch. I would highly recommend training with Harry to anyone wanting to improve their performance.

Given my high training volume for triathlon, I was very conscious of the need to support it with S&C - primarily for injury prevention but also to help build strength. However I had little knowledge and even less time to figure out what this should look like! Harry’s help has been fantastic in solving this problem. Working with Harry has provided me with an S&C schedule that compliments my wider training and focuses on keeping me injury free. I especially appreciated the time Harry took to understand what a typical week looks like for me, and how he could design a programme that would work around that. He gave a lot of support to ensure I understood the programme and exercises in it correctly. I really look forward to continuing to work with Harry.

“I came to Harry following a diagnosis that I had suffered Parsonage-Turner syndrome (nerve switch off) to my shoulder where I was unable to stabilise the shoulder/shoulder blade and therefore unable to effectively carry out normal gym training or classes.

I asked Harry if he was able to help me work on my rehab. Coupled with the rehab, I asked if we could look to work on my lower body in order to improve my cycling power for racing on Zwift.

Over the past couple of months, I have gone from being unable to hold my body in a simple high plank hold to being able to press, push and lift weights above my shoulder. Each session Harry pushes me beyond what I feel I might be capable of, all the exercises he has picked compliment the physio rehab I have carried out alongside this as my physiotherapist has commented positively on the exercises Harry has chosen to work on the shoulder.

From the lower body goal, I’ve gained an additional 20% uplift in my cycling FTP. I can’t recommend Harry highly enough!”

The training programme and support I received from Harry were awesome! It introduced me to a new way of training and challenged my strength and fitness. The programme really helped my performance both in the gym and in my sport. I would recommend it to everyone!

After rupturing my MCL playing football in May 2021 and managing the injury conservatively with Orthopaedic and Physiotherapy intervention. I was at a point where I returned to sports pain free but the knee didn’t feel quite right. Despite returning to sports, the knee still felt weak and unstable. In February 2022 I started 1:1 personal training with Harry and after the initial strength and conditioning tests, he took me through an intense 10 programme. I can’t thank Harry enough for his S&C guidance. My knee feels strong, stable and importantly I’m changing direction during walking and sports without any awareness of the MCL injury. I’m looking forward to finding out what’s in store for the next 10 sessions! Thanks again Harry. Liam McManus
